Description:

Starting from the Turntable Carpark, the trail ascends via the East Track, providing expansive views of the surrounding plains and distant cityscapes. The route then traverses the Northern Range Walk, leading through quintessential Australian bushland adorned with impressive granite boulders and diverse flora. Along the way, hikers encounter the Bunjil Geoglyph, a significant Aboriginal rock art depiction, adding cultural depth to the journey. The loop continues winding through serene landscapes before returning to the starting point.

This hike is ideal for beginners wanting to explore the range’s stunning volcanic trails without tackling the Flinders Peak ascent (though the climb is an optional challenge for those feeling adventurous at the circuit’s end).
 

What to Bring

Pack a comfortable day backpack with 2L of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection. Wear sturdy trainers with good grip or, ideally, waterproof hiking boots and bring a waterproof jacket for unexpected rain or wind. Also consider using hiking poles to support your knees on descents and maintain balance, and gaiters for extra protection against snakes and rain (though they are optional).
